I sat along the river
I sat along the river
a force of nature
that couldn’t be quelled
so they built a city around it.
I think the sun knew
I craved
a force of nature,
so she parted the clouds.
“how did you do it?”
I asked the river
“how did you bend
their will to your banks?”
“it is in my nature,” she said.
“RUN”
“and how did you do it?”
I asked the sun
“how did you raise
their eyes to your light?”
“it is in my nature,” she said.
“RISE”
