The Paris Poems
I packed up all my baggage
And took it with me
Far away
(I was not traveling lightly)
When I arrived
I unpacked very slowly
I had to take care
with where I set my things
So I set my fear down at the Louvre,
And picked up strength
I set my worry down in Versailles,
And picked up hope
I set my shame down in a cafe or two
And devoured love
And I packed up you,
And you,
And even you,
And I dumped us all in the Seine.
When I was finished,
it was time to go home.
