Iced Cappucino at Boule & Cherie
I keep forgetting how much I like cappucino's. I love all the foam, it looks so much like whipped cream that it sets you up to think "Here comes something sweet!", and then BOOM! It's actually just thicker milk and espresso-- so, definitely not sweet.
Boule & Cherie is another great cafe that I would recommend to anyone who's not on-the-go. I've been here once before, and I got there broccoli and cheese quish, which was even better than I expected. As I write about my experiences visiting different cafe's in the area, I've noticed that three things are important to me: great coffee, great food, and a place to sit. Doesn't sound like much, but you'd be surprised. Boule & Cherie is three for three in that regard!
I'm getting a little nervous, you guys. I used to love getting my espresso drinks as 'froo-froo' as they come. You know how people love to take a shot at the Starbuck's-loving-white-girl? The ones that order those crazy frappucino's with so much milk, whipped cream, and syrups that it's hardly even espresso anymore? I have been a proud member of that club for years. An iced, grande, white chocolate mocha is what got me through my seven a.m. english class sophomore year. However, my tastes have been getting darker and darker as time goes on, and this cappucino is proof. Let's break down an iced cappuccino real quick: espresso, various consistancies of milk, and ice. No vanilla flavoring, no whipped cream, caramel syrup on top, basically no sugar. My prediction is that a year from now I will be sucking on ground espresso like chewing tobacco. Do people actually do that? I'm looking it up.
Yep, it's a thing.
Getting back to the stigma about Starbuck's, can we just address how rude that whole thing is? I feel a gianormous social-justice rant coming on, if you're not interested I would suggest you stop reading now.
In today's society, with all the different movements going on to promote equality and acceptance, why are we still judging others based on preconceived notions? People as a whole are weird, so I don't understand why it is that we've put ourselves into these boxes in terms of what we should or shouldn't do. There is not one single person on this planet who's personality fits into one particular 'box'. All human beings are entitled to enjoy a multitude of things, express themselves in a multitude of ways, and should not be subjected to any particular "type". I can't believe that people have stooped so low as to judge someone for how they like their coffee.
However, I've learned one very important lesson recently (thank you AMDA). People either want you, or they don't. I used to worry about being what everyone wanted. I was the master at finding that gray area so that I wasn't a target for other people's cruelty. Now? I. Could. Not. Care. Less.
It's a wonderful way to live, I highly recommend it!
